Learn More About Sydney

Hi Lakers fans!

This is first-year Laker Girl, Sydney. So far, I have had a blast this Lakers season and every day I cherish the wonderful experiences of being a part of this great organization!

First off, I would like to wish all of you - Happy Belated Holidays! I hope they were festive and memorable.

Over the break, I had family visit me in Los Angeles, traveling all the way from Georgia. Before arriving at the STAPLES center for the New Year’s game I brought my Mom to Carl's Jr. for my favorite pre-game snack; sweet potato fries. I couldn’t believe that it was her first time there! She enjoyed a juicy-grilled chicken salad. After we finished our delicious meal, I met with the other Laker Girls to prepare for the game. I was extremely excited for the New Year’s game because I would have a chance to bring in the New Year with the world’s greatest fans. Everyone attending the game was dressed to impress in Lakers colors and filled with so much energy for the new year. Sadly, after four quarters of an intense game, our Lakers were defeated by the Milwaukee Bucks. I do feel a bit down when we lose a game, but I continue to believe in our guys!

After the game, we entered into the New Year of 2014. Later that week, we had rehearsals to prepare for our upcoming three-game weekend. Our first home game of the season was on a Friday and we competed against the Utah Jazz. Even if a few of our players are injured the rest of the team really knows how to band together! I must admit that Fridays are my favorite day of the week for games because it seems that all the fans are really alive and energetic! Not to mention, that dancing on Fridays is a blast because we always play my favorite weekend song; “This is how we do it”. Anyway, the game went by so fast and I was having so much fun, that it was icing on the cake that we were victorious!

As Laker Girls we are so lucky to not only support the L.A. Lakers but also their D-league team, the Los Angeles D-fenders. Our first D-fenders game of 2014 was against the Bakersfield Jam. My favorite part of this Saturday D-fenders game that was watching the junior dance squads perform at halftime. Just watching the passion to dance in those little girls brought back memories and re-inspired me to continue to work hard.

At the end of the night we went home happy with a big win too……as our D-fenders beat the Bakersfield Jam.

With a double win already that weekend I was ready to move on to a Sunday home game where the Lakers play the Denver Nuggets.

This game had me on my toes the whole time! Although we lost, our team played with a lot of heart, which really makes it worth it to all the fans watching.

I enjoy every moment as a Laker Girl each day brings something new and exciting.

I sure am looking forward to the next Lakers home game on the Tuesday January 14th!

I would like to thank you all so much for reading our blogs and the continued support for our awesome organization!

Go Lakers!
