Wish Night with the Lakers: 2017

The Los Angeles Lakers hosted their annual “Wish Night” on January 20th at STAPLES Center. Wish Night is a special event for the Lakers to celebrate their partnership with and show their appreciation for Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles.

At the beginning of the game, Lakers Wish Kid of the Night, Alfonso Reyes, high-fived all the Lakers players as they came on the court and met the referees and team captains as the Honorary Team Captain for the evening. Shawna Mills, a volunteer with Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles, then delivered the game ball to the referees to officially tip off the game.

The Lakers Youth Foundation donated tickets for 100 staff and volunteers from Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles, and they were part of a special highlight during the game.

The final highlight from this night happened when D’Angelo Russell was able to grant the wish of Alfonso Reyes. Alfonso got to meet D’Angelo, along with a few other players who wanted to come by and join in on the action. After meeting the players and taking photos, Alfonso was one happy Lakers fan.

Wish Night was a great success, and concluded with a $5,000 donation from the Lakers Youth Foundation to Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles.
