Postgame Numbers: Lakers vs. Nuggets (11/23/14)

Here is a by-the-numbers look at the Lakers’ 101-94 overtime loss to the Denver Nuggets.

7
The biggest lead of the night, which doubled as the Nuggets’ margin of victory. The Lakers, meanwhile, led by as many as six in the back-and-forth affair that featured 13 lead changes and 18 ties.

10
Baskets made by Kobe Bryant. The NBA scoring leader fired 24 shots on his way to a game-high 27 points. Bryant also contributed six rebounds and four assists in his 11th 20-point effort of the Lakers' 14-game season.

12
Rebounds grabbed by Wesley Johnson. The 27-year-old set a new season-high with his dozen boards, and he also blocked a season-best three shots. Johnson played strong defense, particularly in the fourth quarter, though he had a poor night on the offensive end, shooting just 3-for-10.

16
Season-high amount of assists by Ty Lawson, which was one more than the Lakers combined total. Lawson also pitched in 18 points to notch his fourth double-double of the season.

“I was just trying to stay in front of him,” said Jeremy Lin, who had 17 points. “He’s a very quick guard. He’s shifty. He sets up a ton of pick-and-rolls, so you’re constantly fighting through screens.”

Points scored by L.A. in the third quarter. The Lakers went 12-for-18 (66.7 percent) in the third frame, but their hot shooting burned out shortly after. L.A. scored just 19 points in the fourth quarter and overtime combined, shooting 6-for-30 (20 percent) from the field. Bryant went 4-for-14 during the final two periods, while the rest of the team struggled to a 2-for-16 clip.

“Today kind of felt a little flat,” Bryant said. “We had spurts when we really had some high energy and got out on transition, but we have been playing better as of late. It’s not like the Dallas game where they hit everything they threw up.”
