Scouting Report: Knicks Go For 3 in a Row vs Kings

Tonight's Matchup: New York Knicks vs. Sacramento Kings

Where: Madison Square Garden

TV: MSG Network (7:00 p.m.)

Knicks Report (12-46)

The Knicks have now won two straight games, building on the momentum of a double-overtime comeback win in Detroit with a gritty victory over Toronto back at the Garden the next night. Langston Galloway added to his impressive resume with two more clutch 3s in the wins – a 25-footer to send it to overtime against the Pistons and a dagger to seal the win on Saturday.

Derek Fisher’s squad has come together for two impressive performances without Carmelo Anthony (out for the season after undergoing knee surgery) or Jose Calderon (strained Achilles). Tim Hardaway Jr. (22 points vs. Toronto) and Andrea Bargnani (19 points) have stepped up to help fill the scoring void, and the group has made a collective effort on defense and on the glass; the Knicks have outrebounded their opponents in both victories.

Kings Report (20-37)

The Kings finally make their appearance at Madison Square Garden, just over a month after the scheduled January 26th matchup had to be postponed due to weather. At that time, Sacramento was on its second coach of the season (Tyrone Corbin, who took over on an interim basis for Mike Malone), but now George Karl mans the sideline for the Kings.

The team has gone 2-3 in five games since Karl took over, including two straight losses with DeMarcus Cousins (ankle/hip) sidelined. The big man, averaging 23.7 points and 12.2 rebounds per game, made his first All-Star appearance this year and holds the keys to the franchise’s future.
