With Patrick Ewing out for most of the season due to a broken wrist, the Knicks still managed to qualify for the playoffs under coach Jeff Van Gundy. In the deciding fifth game of the series, Allan Houston’s team-leading 30 points anchored a thrilling, wire-to-wire victory over the Heat on their own home court.
