Kings Team Up With VSP Vision Care to Host Eyewear Donation Drive Tomorrow Against The Dallas Mavericks

-- Fans are invited to participate by donating gently-used eye glasses --

SACRAMENTO, CALIF., Mar. 8, 2012 -- The Sacramento Kings have partnered with VSP® Vision Care to assist more than one billion people worldwide without access to quality eyewear.

Thanks to the VSP “Eyes of Hope” initiative, 115,000 pairs of glasses have been collected and distributed across the globe since the program’s inception in 2008.

Kings fans are encouraged to assist this continued effort by bringing gently-used eyewear to Power Balance Pavilion for the Kings/Mavericks game tomorrow at 7 p.m. VSP representatives will be conveniently stationed at arena entrances to collect all varieties of eyewear, including reading glasses, prescription lenses, and sunglasses. For every pair contributed, VSP will donate a free eye exam and a pair of glasses to a student in need in the Sacramento area.

In addition to the “Eyes of Hope” Drive, the VSP Mobile Eyes® Clinic will park in front of the Power Balance Pavilion Box Office before the game while VSP optometrists provide free eye exams and glasses to local children from the Natomas Unified School district from 5-6:30 p.m..

“People around the world deserve the opportunity to have great vision, because it’s important for everyone to be able to see well,” said Kings guard Tyreke Evans. “Plus, for every pair donated at the game tomorrow night, a student in need will receive a free eye exam and glasses from VSP, so Kings fans can give back twice.”
