SACRAMENTO, CALIF., Apr. 4, 2012 -- The Sacramento Kings will unite with corporate sponsors and the NBA to participate in the league’s fourth annual “Green Week,” which runs through April 11.

Created as a way for teams to be more environmentally friendly and maximize green business opportunities, the NBA and its franchises are also working together with the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) to generate awareness and funding to protect the environment.

The Kings will highlight the importance of environmental responsibility by joining its partners in educating and encouraging fans to make greener choices in their daily lives. The following initiatives underscore the team’s involvement with corporate sponsors in furthering “Green Week” efforts in Sacramento:

Additionally, Kings players will sport 100 percent organic cotton shooting shirts featuring the NBA Green logo before every game during Green Week. The team will hold a silent auction on Sunday, April 8 featuring two Green Week shooting shirts signed by the Kings starting five, along with other autographed Kings items with all proceeds benefitting the NRDC.

In keeping with its commitment to utilizing environmentally sustainable business practices, the Kings will continue recycling all white office paper, cardboard, e-waste, metal refuse, paint and light bulbs used at Power Balance Pavilion, as well as operate mulching landscape machinery on all arena grounds, eliminating excessive yard waste. With these and other Earth-friendly policies, the Kings remain pledged to “Live Green.”
