Kings to Use Retro Court for #FlashbackFriday Games and Final Regular Season Home Game

Sacramento, Calif. – Today, the Sacramento Kings announced a special court will be utilized for the five remaining #FlashbackFriday games, as well as the final game at Sleep Train Arena on April 9. The court is a near-identical recreation of the opening night at Arco Arena I – October 25, 1985 – marking the team’s move to Sacramento, and the first court at Arco Arena II.

The entire court will feature a full makeover, with the original Sacramento Kings logo at center court and the original baby blue framing the playing surface. On the baseline, “SACRAMENTO” decorates the court apron in the original type face from 1985.

“Our final season at Sleep Train Arena has been filled with opportunities to look back at our rich history,” said Kings President Chris Granger. “This court is a special way to salute all of the fans, players and coaches who have helped us build toward a proud future in Sacramento.”

The Kings used the original logo and baby blue color scheme from 1985 through the 1993-94 season. The “SACRAMENTO PROUD” and Kings digital elements will carry over to the court as part of the team salute to a proud future.

At each #FlashbackFriday game this season, Kings players have been wearing the retro baby blue jerseys and fans will receive a poster from a limited-edition series looking back at the franchise’s history. In-game programming includes 1980s and 90s giveaways, promotions and contests, as well as special halftime entertainment with performers. Upcoming performances include Vanilla Ice, Young MC and Tiffany.

Only fifteen regular season home games remain at Sleep Train Arena before the team moves to Golden 1 Center in Downtown Sacramento.
