Sacramento Kings Launch App Partnership with Uber

Sacramento, Calif. – Today, the Sacramento Kings announced they were the first professional sports franchise to integrate the seamless, end-to-end and on-demand rider experience of Uber into the team’s mobile app. The Uber API integration will apply to all Kings home games and is set to launch Wednesday, October 29 when the Kings take on the Golden State Warriors.

“Our partnership with Uber is a win-win for Sacramento Kings fans,” said Kings President Chris Granger. “Not only are we utilizing technology to provide an enhanced and more frictionless experience, but we’re also increasing safety for our fans, arena neighbors and the region. The Kings support of new ride-sharing platforms like Uber are a key factor in making Sacramento and the Capitol region a more vibrant and viable place to live.”

Fans with iOS mobile devices will be able to access Uber in the “Going to the Game" or “Transportation” section of the Kings app by October 29. Android version will be available in mid-November.

The API integration will offer the same, seamless experience Uber users have come to love and expect, including displaying pickup times, providing fare estimates and more. In addition, a Kings-branded icon will appear in Uber’s mobile app to request a ride directly to Sleep Train Arena.

“This first-of-a-kind partnership is part of Uber’s mission to change the way people move, work and live,” said Uber’s Sacramento General Manager Wayne Ting. “Sacramentans are already big fans of Uber, and now Kings fans can use the team’s app to make sure they get a safe, reliable and affordable ride to each and every home game at the tap of a button.”

As part of the agreement, the Kings will also distribute Uber credits to Season Ticket Members and other ticket buyers throughout the 2014-15 season. Additional promotions and events will be announced soon.
