Sacramento Kings Launch 2016-17 Season of Doing Good

Sacramento, Calif. – Today, the Sacramento Kings Foundation announced the launch of the 15th annual Season of Doing Good. Aligned with the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Season of Giving, the Kings look to extend their ongoing commitment to serve the region with special events for community members in the greater Sacramento area throughout November, December and beginning of the New Year.

The 2016 edition of the Season of Doing Good will tip-off this week with three special holiday meal donations made by Kings Center DeMarcus Cousins, Forwards Matt Barnes and Rudy Gay that will benefit nearly 400 families. Throughout this season’s events, the Kings Community Coalition – a player-driven initiative designed to create positive and effective relationships with law enforcement in the community – has committed to seed change at every opportunity. Representatives from local law enforcement agencies will join players, Kings executives, and team members at each event as they seek to impact Sacramento during the holiday season profoundly.

“We’re always excited to get out into our communities, give back and lend a helping hand wherever needed most,” said Kings President Chris Granger. “Our continued mission is to impact the world and #DoGood while making #SacramentoProud.”

Along with the players, Kings team members will continue to grow the organization’s commitment to support Sacramento and serving the region in unique and innovating ways. Through the Kings LIFT Program, Kings team members have an opportunity to serve 50 paid hours to the volunteer organization of their choice – ultimately contributing 10,000 hours to the community. The Kings look to inspire other individuals and companies to find innovative ways to build a culture of volunteerism for the region.

The Sacramento Kings Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to investing its time, resources, talent and passion working year-round to support the Sacramento region by serving as a positive agent of change. As part of ongoing efforts in doing so, the Kings have recently launched initiatives to better serve the community while making new and impactful relationships.
