"Back in Black" Sacramento Kings Unveil New Jersey

-- Team celebrates debut of alternate jersey by announcing “blackout” of home opener vs. L.A. Lakers; limited number of jerseys now available for purchase online & at the Kings Team Store --

SACRAMENTO, CALIF., Dec. 07, 2011 -- The Sacramento Kings today unveiled a new black alternate jersey, which the team will debut in its 2011-12 regular season home opener against the L.A. Lakers on Dec. 26.

The official launch began with a press conference at Power Balance Pavilion introducing the jersey to a contingent of Sacramento media and followed with a presentation describing plans for the team’s first-ever “blackout” game, where complimentary black T-shirts will be distributed to every fan in attendance to commemorate the event.

“We are honored to bring the black jersey back to our fans,” said Craig Amazeen, Kings Senior Vice President of Broadcasting, New Media and Brand Development. “The resurrection of this sacred artifact, along with the introduction of the ‘Back-in-Black Pack’ and the ‘blackout’ against the Lakers, capture the epic feeling of what will be a defining season.”

The black jersey was developed as a revered relic, a symbol of fortitude and a shield of defiance, embodying the historic strength of its predecessors and those who have worn it—for black is more than a color, it’s an honor worn by Kings.

Forged from state-of-the-art Adidas Revolution 30 technology, the jersey is made with 60 percent recycled CLIMACOOL fabrics and fashioned specifically for the rigors of battle.

Stylistically, the italic, retro word-mark pays homage to a Kings legacy rich in memories fused with the added prestige of purple and silver. A sharp side-trim design continues compatibility with the team’s current armor—meshing past and present to create a contemporary vision reminiscent of the black jersey donned by beloved Kings teams of the late 90s and early 2000s.

Fans interested in purchasing a black jersey are encouraged to visit Kings Team Store at Power Balance Pavilion or online at KingsTeamStore.com. A small number of authentic jerseys embroidered with an exclusive 6th Man Shield Patch will be released, but supplies are extremely limited so fans should act quickly to secure one today. Regular authentic black jerseys and replica black jersey versions will also be available and expected to sell in short order during the holiday season.

In addition, the Kings are offering fans the “Back-in-Black Pack,” starting at just $149 per seat to each of the first four home games of the 2011-12 season, headlined by the ‘blackout’ home opener vs. the L.A. Lakers.

“Back-in-Black” Packs include five limited-edition black T-shirts, two for the “blackout” home opener and one for each of the additional three contests offered: Dec. 29 against 2010-11 NBA MVP Derrick Rose and the Eastern Conference finalist Chicago Bulls, New Year’s Eve against the New York Knicks, led by perennial All-Stars Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire, and New Year’s Day versus four-time All-Star Chris Paul and the New Orleans Hornets.
