Kings Honor Jerry Tarkanian

Hall of Fame Coach Jerry Tarkanian, who led the University of Nevada Las Vegas Runnin’ Rebels to four NCAA Final Four berths and a 1990 National Championship, passed away on Wednesday.

Following the news, Kings legend Reggie Theus, who played under Coach Tarkanian for three years at UNLV, joined the Sacramento basketball family and more in remembering the impact of one of the game’s great leaders.

Kings TV Color Commentator Jerry Reynolds

“It’s certainly sad news about Coach Jerry Tarkanian. I met Tark years ago, back when he was a junior college coach. Obviously, he had just a great career, and he was one of those guys who was a rare motivator of athletes – I think one of the very best – (and) a great recruiter. My dealings with him personally were always very pleasant. He was a guy who would take time with coaches, whether college or professional – (he) never had too high of an opinion of himself. He will be greatly missed… Tark will be remembered as an all-time best.”
