Martin Luther King III Joins Chris Webber on “Fearless or Insane” Podcast

Beyond entertainment, sports also can serve as a vehicle for change in culture, politics and life in general. This is an idea that former Kings great Chris Webber has been exploring in his weekly podcast “Fearless or Insane”.

Recently, Webber spoke one-on-one on his show with the son of two Civil Rights legends. Martin Luther King III joined C-Webb to discuss a host of ideas, including his drive to continue honoring the legacy of his parents, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King.

“Both of them dedicated their lives, I believe, to what my father would have defined as eradicating the triple evils,” King III said to Webber during the in-depth interview. “And he defined those evils as the evil of poverty, the evil of racism and the evil of war, militarism and violence.”

King III also discusses his late father’s appreciation for athletes like Jackie Robinson and Muhammad Ali, who stood up in the face of social injustice.

“Those who broke barriers broke them around issues of race,” King III said. “So obviously, there was camaraderie between them and support of what they were able to do - support and appreciation. I think dad looked up to them and I’m sure they looked up to him as well.”
