Preview: Kings (27-45) at Clippers (44-30)

Winners of four of their last five games, the Los Angeles Clippers find themselves in the thick of the Western Conference Playoff race. Vying for positioning, the Clippers earned a crucial victory over the Utah Jazz on Saturday, moving within a half game of the west’s fourth seed.

Los Angeles’ Jamal Crawford scored a season-high 28 points to lead all scorers en route to the blowout victory. The only Clipper player to score over 20 on the night, Crawford and company outdueled Rudy Gobert’s 26 points.

Losing their past two contests versus Los Angeles, the Kings will need an increased focus versus the dangerous backcourt of Chris Paul and JJ Redick. Redick has tallied totals of 26 and 19 versus Sacramento this year, proving to be a difficult matchup for the purple and black.

The team will need to carry over its gritty effort from Oracle Arena, where it went toe-to-toe with Golden State. Falling Friday due to turnovers, taking care of possessions will ultimately be the deciding factor in Sunday’s matinee.

Key Matchup

Sharpshooters Buddy Hield and Redick are likely to match up on Sunday. The rookie’s recent stretch of impressive play will be tested against the capable veteran. Limiting Redick’s looks while building off his career night will be instrumental in a potential Kings victory.

Did You Know?

It’s been almost 10 years since Garrett Temple and Redick faced off on college basketball’s biggest stage. In the Sweet Sixteen of the 2006 NCAA Tournament, Temple held Redick to just 3-of-18 shooting while playing all 40 minutes. Temple’s performance was a key reason the LSU Tigers went on to defeat the then No. 1 ranked Duke Blue Devils en route to the Elite Eight.
