Preview: Kings (7-12) vs Celtics (10-8)

While this is technically a home game for the Kings, this contest against the Boston Celtics will not be taking place within the walls of Sleep Train Arena, but rather, in Mexico City, Mexico as part of the NBA's Global Games.

Regardless of location, the Kings will be looking to continue building momentum after beating a solid Dallas Mavericks squad 112-98 in Sacramento this past Monday night. The big three of DeMarcus Cousins, Rudy Gay, and Rajon Rondo all made big contributions to the victory.

DMC notched 31 points, nine rebounds, and six assists on the night, while Rudy added 20 points and seven rebounds and No. 9 pitched in 21 points and five assists of his own.

The Celtics are on the heels of a win over the Miami Heat on Sunday and are lead by former Kings guard Isaiah Thomas, who is averaging 20.8 points per contest this season. Boston has built a reputation this season as a pesky defensive team, leading the NBA in steals and opponent turnovers per game.

These numbers are thanks, in part, to some of the great on-ball defenders of the Celtics like guard Avery Bradley and forward Jae Crowder.

  • After playing his former team in the Mavericks last game, guard Rajon Rondo will again square off against his other former team in the Boston Celtics, where he spent the first eight seasons of his career including being a key contributor to their 2008 NBA Championship run.
  • Sacramento claimed victory the last time these two teams met and this will be the first of two meetings this season.
  • Two pairs of former college teammates will face each other, as Kings center Kosta Koufos and Celtics guard Evan Turner played together at Ohio State and Kings center Willie Cauley-Stein and Celtics forward James young played together at Kentucky.
