Pollard Making a Splash in Entertainment

Scot Pollard is best known to Sacramento fans as a mowhawk-sporting, Fu Manchu mustache-donong force in the paint. As the 11-year NBA veteran’s name recently begun circling the web for his addition to CBS’ long-running hit show "Survivor," ESPN’s C.L. Brown took the chance to discuss Pollard’s upcoming film and appearance on the reality TV show.

“It’s a small budget movie,” said Pollard to Brown of his latest film project. “I produced it, so there’s not big-named actors.”

Titled "The Association," the film is loosely based on Scot's personal life and time in the NBA.

The former Kings center teamed up with Kevin Willmott, associate professor at the Univeristy of Kansas, to write the script. “Willmott also co-wrote the Spike Lee film ‘Chi-Raq’ that was recently in theaters,” wrote Brown. Noting that Pollard and Willmott hope to screen the movie in film festivals this fall.

While Kings fans wait to watch the former Sacramento great make his cinematic debut, his season of “Survivor" begins on Wednesday.

“I felt like I had an advantage physically because of the things you do to your body to maintain professional athlete status level,” said Pollard.

Brown notes that Pollard is the second former NBA player to make an appearance on the show, with Cliff Robinson – formerly of the Portland Trail Blazers - making it 18 days on the island and finishing 14th on the 28th season of the show.
