Kings Win Second Straight

With both DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin missing for Los Angeles, Sactown’s defensive focus turned to J.J. Redick and Chris Paul - both of whom have averaged double-digit scoring during the Clippers’ winning streak.

On this night, Sacramento was up to the task, allowing Redick and Paul to attempt just eight combined shots in the first two frames. Thanks to strong offensive performances from DeMarcus Cousins (15 points) and Darren Collison (13 points), the Kings led at the halftime break, 64-60.

Despite holding their opposition to just 26.9 shooting from the floor in the third quarter, Sacramento was outscored, but maintained a three-point advantage heading into the final frame.

Both teams traded runs in the fourth quarter, but Sacramento was able to squeeze out the win thanks to clutch field goals and free throws by Collison, Rajon Rondo and Rudy Gay. The trio combined for 13 of Sacramento’s final 15 points.

  • Sacramento held Los Angeles to 39.6 percent shooting on the night.
  • Boogie recorded his seventh straight double-double and 22nd overall on the season.
  • With 13 points and 10 assists, Rondo tallied his 18th double-double. No. 9’s streak of 8 games with 10 or more assists in the longest streak in the Sacramento-era.
  • Six Kings players score in double-digits (Cousins, Gay, Ben McLemore, Omri Casspi, Rondo and Collison).
  • The team shot 52 percent from the beyond the arc, hitting 13-of-25 three-pointers.
