Kings Drop Heartbreaker in OT

DeMarcus Cousins was dominant on Tuesday night inside Sleep Train Arena. He recorded 32 points, 16 rebounds and nine assists, and almost carried a team – who lost Rudy Gay in the first quarter with a left knee strain – to a victory over a very talented and deep Dallas squad.

However, in the closing seconds of the fourth quarter, with the teams knotted at 99, Cousins was whistled for his sixth personal foul and the Kings were left to play without their two stars. Ultimately the home team came up just short in overtime as Monta Ellis iced the game from the free throw line en route to his team-leading 28 points and 10 assists.

  • Cousins recorded his 22nd double-double of the season, 18th in the last 20 games. He also surpassed the 30-point mark for the sixth time this season.
  • The Kings connected on a season-high 26 field goals in the first half.
  • Carl Landry tallied his third double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Jason Thompson held Dirk Nowitzki mostly in check, limiting the star forward to just 15 points on 13 shot attempts.
  • Rudy Gay left the game after just over 10 minutes of action with a left knee strain and did not return. Rudy had four points and two assists.
