DMC Having Top 10 All-Time Season for Center

At 27.2 points and 11.2 rebounds per game, DeMarcus Cousins is the only player in the NBA that sits in the top-five in both categories. Cousins’ play has earned the respect of several NBA peers, including Klay Thompson, Anthony Davis and San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich.

DMC has scored 30 or more points in 20 of the 47 games he’s played in this season, shooting 52% from the field and 44% from beyond the arc in those games, ranking third in the League in 30-plus point games.

More impressively, according to SunTimes, the six-year pro is in the midst of a point per game season average that hasn’t been tallied by an NBA center since Kings minority owner Shaquille O’Neal averaged 27 points in the 2002-03 season.

Since the inception of the League, just 10 centers have achieved a 27-point average over the course of an entire season. If Boogie was able to end the season at his current pace of 27-plus points per game, he would join the company of all-time greats such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, Moses Malone, Hakeem Olajuwon and more.

Additionally, Basketball Reference notes that his combined point-rebound average would make him the 17th player in NBA history to average at least 27 points and 11 rebounds.

26 regular season games remain for No. 15 to add to his already huge statistical season.
