Cousins Preps for Team USA

When DeMarcus Cousins got the call that he’d be playing on the USA Men’s National Team in Rio de Janeiro, the big man couldn’t be more ecstatic. It also meant it was time to get to work, and Boogie has been training hard in an effort to shed a few pounds.

No. 15 has reportedly lost 20 pounds in anticipation of the Olympic games and the upcoming NBA season according to the SacBee.

“I want to get lighter than any of my previous years,” Boogie told reporters at his annual youth basketball camp last month. “The pace of the game has picked up a lot so I have to be ready for that.”

Not only is the NBA trending toward fast-paced style of play, but Olympic basketball is also played at a high rate of speed. DMC knows that his team is going to rely on him to run the floor quicker than he ever has in the past.

“My role changes a lot for Team USA, so I got to be a guy that’s really getting up and down,” he continued. “I’m also trying to prepare my body for that.”

Aside from losing weight, DMC has been consistently working on his shot all summer. He posted a video working on his midrange jumper Thursday afternoon. Check it out below:
