Cousins Has Sights Set on Playoffs

DeMarcus Cousins is in the midst of another All-Star caliber year, averaging 25.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. While DMC is performing at an all-time high, the numbers aren’t his focus.

“I’m not out to prove I can play anymore, that I’m the best big man…I’m here to win games,” said Cousins after practice on Tuesday in Sacramento.

The Kings started 15-21 for the second-consecutive year, but their slow start hasn’t phased Cousins or the rest of the team. Since the 1-7 start, they’ve played nearly .500 ball and, as of late, look ready to turn a corner in the second half of the season. “It’s been a better feeling, a better vibe," said No. 15. "It’s the best vibe I’ve seen since I’ve been in Sacramento.”

With 37 games in the books, the All-Star Center believes the team is finally at a point where they recognize each others tendencies and have started feeding off of each other. For Boogie, there’s true belief that the purple and black’s best games lie ahead, not behind them.

“In my heart, I believe we’re going to be in the playoffs this season.”

If Big Cuz is able to continue his incredible play alongside Rajon Rondo, Rudy Gay, Omri Casspi, Darren Collison and others, Sleep Train Arena may see the return of playoff basketball this April.

The journey to the playoffs continues on Wednesday night, as Sactown begins a stretch of play versus opponents vying for their own playoff spot in the Western Conference.
