Clippers Sign Lamond Murray

The Los Angeles Clippers today signed free agent forward Lamond Murray it was announced by Vice President of Basketball Operations Elgin Baylor. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.

This marks Murray second stint with the Clippers, who originally drafted him with the seventh overall selection in the 1994 NBA Draft. The eleven-year NBA veteran brings with him career averages of 11.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 25.1 minutes per game.

Murray averaged 3.4 points and 10.1 minutes in 57 games played with the New Jersey Nets during the 2005-06 NBA season. He turned in his most productive NBA season in 2001, tallying 16.6 points and 5.2 rebounds in 71 games played for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

A 6’7” forward out of California, Murray averaged 14.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 31.6 minutes in 81 games played for the Clippers during his rookie season in 1994. During his five seasons in Los Angeles, Murray averaged 11.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Murray’s most productive year for the Clippers was in 1997, when he tallied 15.4 points and 6.1 rebounds in 79 games played.

Murray was eventually traded by the Clippers to the Cleveland Cavaliers on August 4, 1999 in exchange for Derek Anderson and Johnny Newman.
