2005-06 LAC Broadcaster Bio - Matt Pinto

STATION: KTLK AM 1150
Matt Pinto enters his first season as a member of the Clippers’ broadcast team, handling the radio play-by-play duties on KTLK AM 1 150 for all televised games. He comes to the Clippers after serving the last four seasons as the television play-by-play voice for the Dallas Mavericks. Pinto moved to television in 2001-02, after spending the previous four seasons as the Mavericks’ radio voice.

Before joining the Mavericks, Pinto held the positions of program director and afternoon sports drive talk show host for Sports Radio WFNZ 610 AM in Charlotte, N.C. He was the radio voice of the Charlotte Hornets from the 1990-91 through 1995-96 seasons, in addition to hosting the nightly “Sports Huddle” on Hornets’ flagship station, WBT. Pinto’s extensive sportscasting background includes play-by-play stints as the radio voice of University of Hawaii men’s sports, Boston College basketball, Brown University football, Hawaii Islanders and Pawtucket Red Sox AAA baseball. He also served as television sports anchor on CBS-TV affiliate KGMB-TV in Honolulu, HI for three years. Pinto has also been heard nationally on Westwood One college basketball and ESPN Radio “Game Night” broadcasts. He has also served as the play-by-play voice for ESPN Radio’s NBA Game of the Week.

Joining the Clippers broadcast team also marks Pinto’s return to Los Angeles, where he was the morning sports director at KIQQ Radio from 1980-83 before leaving to co-host the afternoon drive-time show on KFOX Sports Radio from 1983-85. A graduate of San Dieguito High School in Encinitas, Pinto also served as the play-by-play voice for UCLA women’s basketball in 1984.

The 43 year old Boston native and his wife, Elizabeth, have two children, Tamara and Daryl.
