L.A. Clippers Acquire a Future Second-Round Draft Pick From the Atlanta Hawks

The L.A. Clippers have acquired a future second-round draft pick and cash considerations from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for guard Derrick Walton Jr., it was announced today by President of Basketball Operations Lawrence Frank.

Walton Jr., 24, appeared in 23 games in his lone season with the Clippers, averaging 2.2 points and 1.0 assists in 9.7 minutes. The 6’0”, 185-pound point guard has played in 39 career games, holding career averages of 2.0 points and 1.0 assists in 9.5 minutes in two NBA seasons with L.A. and the Miami Heat. Prior to his NBA career, Walton Jr. played four years for the University of Michigan Wolverines, earning 2013-14 Big Ten All-Freshman honors and the 2017 Big Ten Tournament MVP.
