Matchup History
Of all the rivalries in the NBA, the 76ers and Golden State Warriors hold one that’s most unique, as the Warriors’ origin story takes place in Philadelphia, and begins with one of the greatest Sixers of all time as part of the opposing roster. These franchises first met as the Syracuse Nationals and Philadelphia Warriors with Philly native Wilt Chamberlain leading the way for his hometown team. After the Warriors relocated to San Francisco, California, and the Nationals rebranded as the 76ers and took their spot in this celebrated basketball town, Chamberlain requested a trade and the rest is history.
In all, the teams have met 325 times in the regular season and for 34 playoff contests, with the Sixers holding the edge 170-155.
The 76ers and Warriors split their season series with one win each in the 2022-23 season. These two teams face off again in two games during the 2023-24 season, the first of which takes place in San Francisco on January 30. Their second matchup of the season will be at home in Philadelphia on February 7. Buy tickets to see the NBA MVP lead the charge for the Sixers!
