Player Bio

Marques Terrell Bolden was born on April 17, 1998 in Dallas, Texas. The son of Melvin and Carolyn Bolden, Marques starred at DeSoto High School, which he led to a Texas Class 6A state title during his senior season. That year, Bolden was also named Texas' Mr. Basketball and was the TABC 6A Player of the Year. Bolden participated in both the McDonald's All-American Game and the Jordan Brand Classic. He was considered a consensus five-star recruit before committing to Duke University in May of 2016. Follow Marques on Twitter @MarquesB__ and on Instagram @marques. A highly-touted high school player out of Texas, Bolden arrived at Duke for the 2016-17 season. As a freshman, he appeared in 24 games and made one start. Bolden made his regular-season debut with seven points and five rebounds in a win over Maine on Dec. 3. In a win over Miami on Jan. 21, Bolden played a season-high 23 minutes and posted a season-high eight points, to go with four rebounds. As a sophomore, Bolden was selected to the preseason Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award watch list. He went on to appear in 29 games, averaging 3.9 points and 3.6 rebounds in 12.9 minutes per contest. In a win over St. Francis, Bolden posted a double-double, scoring a career-high 17 points and adding 10 boards in just 15 minutes of action. As a junior, Bolden averaged career-highs in points (5.3), rebounds (4.5), minutes (19.1) per game, in addition to free throw percentage (.726). His 58 blocked shots ranked second on the team behind only Zion Williamson (59).
