BEFORE NBA

Played one season at the University of Kentucky before declaring for the NBA Draft as an early entry candidate…started all 37 games for the Wildcats and averaged 14.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.08 steals and 32.6 minutes while shooting 46.2 percent from the field, 35.5 percent from three-point range and 93.5 percent from the foul line…set a new single-season school record for free throw percentage…became the 14th freshman in program history to score at least 500 points and just the eighth to connect on at least 60 three-point field goals in their first season…named the 2018-19 SEC Newcomer of the Year…selected to the All-SEC Second Team…was an SEC All-Freshman Team selection…earned NCAA Midwest Regional All-Tournament Team honors…named SEC Freshman of the Week three times…team was a perfect 19-0 when he scored at least 15 points and was a perfect 9-0 when he connected on at least three three-point field goals…was the only freshman in the country to average at least 15 points while shooting at least 50 percent from the field, 35 percent from three-point range and 90 percent from the foul line in true road games…was the only Wildcat to start all 37 games…led the team in three-point field goals made, free throw percentage, minutes, starts and double-figure scoring efforts…finished second on the team in points, scoring average, assists, steals and field goals made…recorded six 20-point games…paced the team in steals 12 times, in points on 10 occasions and in assists seven times…knocked down the game-winning three-pointer with 25.8 seconds remaining and then hit two free throws nine seconds later to help Kentucky earn a, 62-58, win against Houston in the Sweet 16…scored a career-high 29 points vs. Arkansas on Feb. 26.

Full name is Tyler Herro…goes by the nickname “Boy Wonder” which was given to him by his college teammates…is the son of Jen and Chris Herro…has two brothers, Austin and Myles…studied Communications at Kentucky…his interests outside of basketball include fashion and photography…has a fashion line due out in 2020…has his own charitable foundation, The T. Herro Foundation…his foundation strives to support and inspire youth through community events, camps and other programs with the goal to help cultivate the heroes of tomorrow…credits his dad as the person who really made a difference in his life by instilling a work ethic in him and pushing him to play basketball every single day…when his playing career is over he would like to coach…his favorite sport other than basketball is football and he’s a fan of the Baltimore Ravens…threw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Minnesota Twins-Miami Marlins game at Marlins Park on July 30, 2019…averaged 32.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.3 steals as a senior at Whitnall High School…played in the 2018 Jordan Brand Classic and Nike Hoop Summit…wears size 13 sneakers.
