Overview
Mike Miles Jr. was named SportsDayHS All-Area Player of the Year by the Dallas Morning News and Class 5A Player of the Year as a senior in high school after leading his team to a 36-1 record. He chose TCU over offers from other programs like LSU, Oregon and Oklahoma State. As a freshman, he was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team. The following year, he was named Second Team All-Big 12 behind 15.4 points, 3.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals. He also made Second Team All-Big 12 as a junior, averaging 17.9 points on 50/36/75 shooting, 2.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.2 steals.

Analysis
The point guard’s primary role for TCU was running the pick-and-roll, and he’s comfortable making various necessary NBA-level passes. His three-point shooting will also allow him to play off-ball if needed, but devising a reliable step-back jumper could be crucial. He’s a small guard without elite athleticism, so also developing a floater and finding ways to score at the rim will be important. Defensively, Miles can get through screens, and his bulk allows him not to be bullied by bigger point guards.

Projection
Miles may have to fight for a roster spot, and Summer League may be something to watch. Given his size, playstyle and the expectation of a late draft selection, he could take a path similar to Tyus Jones or Fred VanVleet — both needing development time before being entrusted with significant roles.
