Washington Wizards players Bradley Beal and Sheldon Mac helped tip-off “Reading Timeouts with the Wizards” on Wednesday, September 20th at Armstrong Elementary School. They were joined by G-wiz and the Wizard Girls.
Beal and Mack joined over 110 first graders and kindergarteners in a reading circle and Q&A session. The reading timeout consisted of two books “May I Bring a Friend” by Beatrice Schenk De Regniers and “The Gruffalo” by Julia Donaldson.
Washington Bullets/Wizards Alumni Phil Chenier hosted the October “Reading Timeout with the Wizards” at Bright Beginnings, Inc. Chenier joined 25 three/four year olds in reading circle. The reading timeout consisted of two books “Pete the Cat and the Surprise Teacher” by James Dean and “Room on the Broom” by Julia Donaldson.
Washington Wizards players Mike Scott and Kelly Oubre hosted a Halloween themed “Reading Timeout with the Wizards” at the end of October, beginning of November. Scott and Oubre were joined by the Wizard Girls and G-Wiz, as well as by 40 children between the ages of 2 to 12 years old for a reading circle. The reading timeout consisted of two books, “Pete the Cat: Trick or Pete” by James Dean and “Goodnight Goon: a Petrifying Parody” by Michael Rex.
