WASHINGTON, D.C. – In an effort to highlight the musical talent in the DMV area, the Washington Wizards will launch the Wizards DMV Music Portal. This new initiative on WashingtonWizards.com will allow creators/producers/musicians to upload their music for consideration to be used in Washington Wizards broadcast spots, social videos, in-game videos, and team events. Artists wishing to be considered should visit washingtonwizards.com/music for rules and instructions on how to upload their music.
“We are thrilled to announce the Wizards DMV Music Portal. To be one of the first sports teams to launch their own music submission portal allows us to tap into a new set of resources, and change the way we have approached social, digital, and creative content,” said Wizards Sr. Director of Digital Media Bernard Palin. “This exciting venture also presents an opportunity to showcase new and upcoming talent throughout the DMV area to our fanbase.”
Artists who submit music to the Wizards DMV Music Portal will maintain full ownership. If the team has interest in using their music, artists will be contacted directly. Artists will be compensated via experiences, merchandise, tickets, exposure, etc. There will be no monetary compensation provided. Artists must exclusively own all rights to the track uploaded. All genres of music are welcome. Participants are asked to refrain from submitting explicit tracks that contain profane or offensive words or language.
As part of the Wizards DMV Music Portal, an artist will be featured each month on the team’s web, social and digital channels. Tipping-off the first-ever artist spotlight is the rising rap duo from Washington, D.C., Smash Bruvas.
The duo, who debuted their song ‘Same Energy’ at the Wizards Draft Party in June, has lit the music scene ablaze with their explosive beats and magnetic lyrical prowess with hits like ‘Back it Up,’ ‘Oh Nana’ and ‘Quarantine Nights.’ Their infectious melodies and authentic style make them a force to be reckoned with as they redefine rap music for a new generation.
