Washington unveils themes and promotional schedule for Wizards 25th Anniversary season

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Washington Wizards have unveiled their themes and promotional schedule for the upcoming season in anticipation of the start of the 2022-23 NBA season presented by Capital One.

THEMES & GIVEAWAYS: The first 15,000 fans attending the home opener on Friday, Oct. 21, against the Chicago Bulls will receive a 2022-23 Wizards schedule magnet and all fans in attendance will also take home a classic jersey rally towel to celebrate the team’s new Classic Edition uniforms that will be debuted that night. 

As part of the Wizards’ 25th anniversary season celebrations, the team will host “Throwback” nights, beginning on Friday, Nov. 18, vs. the Miami Heat when the first 10,000 fans will receive a hat designed by Wizards alumnus Antawn Jamison presented by FTX. The first 10,000 fans on Dec. 10 vs. the Los Angeles Clippers will also receive a throwback-inspired hat designed by current Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma courtesy of FTX.

Washington will host Vote Night on Friday, Oct. 28 vs. Indiana in a nationally-televised game that will feature a special edition shooting shirt. In addition to educating fans on the importance of voting, eligible voters in attendance will be encouraged to vote in the 2022 midterm elections taking place on Tuesday, Nov. 8.

The team will also unveil “Wizards Wednesdays,” a six-night series presented by Capital One, tipping off on Nov. 16 against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Throughout the season, Wizards Wednesdays will feature giveaways including a 90’s-inspired bucket hat (Jan. 11 vs. CHI), nesting dolls (Feb. 8 vs. CHA) and a Kristaps Porzingis bobblehead (Mar. 22 vs. DEN). 

Themes that will be recognized this season include: Military Night presented by Leidos (Nov. 12), Kids Day presented by Ticketmaster (Nov. 13), Season of Giving presented by Ticketmaster (Nov. 20), Cancer Awareness Night presented by MedStar Health (Nov. 28), Mental Health Awareness Night presented by MedStar Health (Jan. 9), Martin Luther King, Jr. Day presented by Amtrak (Jan. 16), Heart Health Awareness Night presented by MedStar Health (Feb. 3), Women’s Night presented by Fresh Vine (Mar. 8), Cherry Blossom Night (Mar. 24), Pride Night presented by Giant (Mar. 28) and Black History Month presented by Stackwell Capital (February).  Heritage Nights such as Jewish Heritage Night, Japanese Heritage Night, Caribbean Heritage Night, Hispanic Heritage Night and Lunar New Year will also be celebrated during the season. 

Additional giveaways this season will include a special-edition Wizards NFT presented by FTX for the first 2,500 fans on Dec. 27, a “lifestyle” edition bobblehead of Kyle Kuzma courtesy of Capital One (Jan. 13), a Wizards t-shirt courtesy of Caesars Sportsbook (Mar. 6), a Cherry Blossom hat designed by Monte Morris presented by FTX (Mar. 24) and more be named at a later date.

Fans will also be treated to a Marvel Super Hero Night presented by FTX on Dec. 28 vs. Phoenix, where the first 10,000 fans will receive a Marvel Super Hero Bradley Beal comic book.

CONCESSION SPECIALS: On special “Classic” nights, beginning with the home opener on Oct. 21, fans can enjoy a classic spin at the Capital One Arena concession stands with Aramark food services’ $25 food and beverage packages. 

RETAIL: Fans can also celebrate with special merchandise, including the 25th anniversary line that will include the Classic edition jerseys, a variety of Mitchell & Ness collection items and other various items in the blue-and-bronze branding and special edition retail giveaways. This season, Washington will also acknowledge the motivation for the team’s name change in 1997 and will continue to raise awareness and funds for organizations working to combat gun violence in the Nation’s Capital. During the 2022-23 season, 25% of all Washington Bullets apparel sales will be donated to the Alliance of Concerned Men (ACM), an organization dedicated to promoting understanding, peace, and harmony.

FAN FAVORITES: The popular Wizards concert series will return for the seventh season and feature award-winning artists as well as local talent. Additional details will be announced in the coming weeks.
