Game Recap: Wizards 82 - Timberwolves 87



John Wall had 19 points and seven assists and all five Wizards starters finished in double figures but the Wizards fell to the Timberwolves in Minnesota, 87-82.

The Wizards got on top of the Wolves early and led the entire first quarter by shooting the ball extremely well. John Wall hit his first four shots, all jumpers, and had 10 points in the first quarter as the Wizards led by five. The Wizards offense sputtered in the second though and were held to just 14 points and trailed by five at the break.

The game was played very evenly in the third quarter and the Wizards went into the fourth down by two. Washington would immediately go on a 10-0 run to start the fourth and take an eight point lead. Following the Wizards run, the Timberwolves went on an 18-6 run of their own and led by four with three minutes to play. The Wizards cut it as close as one down the stretch but never get the lead back and eventually fell by five.

The Wizards shot the ball a little better than the Timberwolves at 44% to 41% and also outrebounded them 44-34. The Wizards committed 24 turnovers which the Wolves turned into 30 points which was the difference in the game. All five Wizards finished in double figures, led by Wall who led all scorers with 19 and Ariza with 16. Okafor had a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.

Ricky Rubio had 15 points, 11 assists, seven rebounds and six steals in the win for the Wolves. Derrick Williams had 16 points and Luke Ridnour had 15.

The Wizards will head to Brooklyn to play the Nets on Friday night. Tip-off is at 7:30.
