The Golden State Warriors and DraftKings, the largest U.S.-based destination for daily fantasy sports, today announced a partnership making DraftKings the official sponsor of Warriors Slate Night. The partnership also covers additional sales and marketing elements.
“As we continue to look for ways to further engage our fans, partnering with fantasy sports leaders like DraftKings makes perfect sense,” said Warriors President and Chief Operating Officer Rick Welts. “We are excited to partner with a well-respected and innovative fantasy sports leader and be one of the first teams in the NBA to officially partner with DraftKings.”
DraftKings offers contests for experts and casual players alike. In addition to daily fantasy basketball, DraftKings also offers fantasy contests in additional major professional and college sports. More than 41 million people in the United States and Canada play fantasy sports and daily fantasy sports are a burgeoning component of this multi-billion dollar market.
“Slate Night brings a unique energy to Oracle Arena, and we’re honored that DraftKings will be a part of it,” said Jason Robins, DraftKings CEO and co-founder “The rise in daily fantasy sports has garnered interest from fans and professional teams across the country, and we’re looking forward to working with the Warriors to see how we can leverage that popularity to bring them even closer to their fans.”
For Warriors Slate Night, now presented by DraftKings, Warriors players wear the Slate alternate uniform for every home and away game during the season, with the Warriors Dance Team, Hoop Troop, Flying Dubs, Jr. Jam, DJ Sharp and Aftershock also wearing Slate alternate jerseys for every Saturday home game. The Warriors first hosted Slate Night on Saturday, December 15 at home against the Charlotte Hornets and are currently undefeated on Slate Nights (5-0).
