Warriors Become First Team in North America to Reach Five Million Followers on TikTok

Since Launch In April 2019, 54 Percent Of Warriors’ TikTok Followers Are Based Internationally

The 2022 NBA Champion Golden State Warriors have reached five million followers on TikTok (@warriors), becoming the first North American sports team account amongst the NBA, NFL, NHL and MLB to reach the milestone. Across the NBA, NFL, NHL and MLB, the second-most followed sports team on TikTok is the Utah Jazz (3.6 million), followed by the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs (2.6 million).

Highlights of the team’s TikTok account include:

  • Since the inception of the account in April 2019, the Warriors’ TikTok has accumulated over 55.8 million likes, which is nearly double the lifetime likes of the second-most followed NBA team account (Utah Jazz, 28.2 million likes).
  • Of the accounts over five million followers, 54% of those accounts are international fans and 65% are between the ages of 18 to 24.
  • In March 2022, the Warriors became the first North American sports team to launch a TikTok storefront with the Warriors Origins merchandise line.
  • A clip of Warriors guards Stephen Curry and Jordan Poole taking part in the Intuition Challenge is the accounts most-liked post, with over 1.9 million likes and 14.7 million views.

This marks the second social media platform that the Warriors became the first team in North America to reach a major milestone. In July of 2022, the Warriors became the first North American sports team to reach 25 million followers on Instagram after being the first to reach the 20 million follower mark in November 2021. Internationally, the Warriors have over 15 million followers across Douyin (3 million), Kuaishou (2 million) and Weibo (10 million).
