Curry Will Make His Olympic Debut This Summer

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry has been selected to the 2024 USA Basketball Men’s National Team, which will compete at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris slated for July 26-Aug. 11, 2024. The team was selected by USA Basketball Men’s National Team managing director Grant Hill and approved by the USA Basketball Board of Directors. Curry, a two-time World Cup champion (2010, 2014) with Team USA, will make his Olympic debut this summer.

Curry, 36, recently completed his franchise-record 15th season with the Warriors, earning his 10th career NBA All-Star nod and posting averages of 26.4 points, 5.1 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 32.7 minutes in 74 games (all starts). Curry led the NBA in 3-point field goals for the eighth time in his career with 357 threes—the third most in a single-season in NBA history, hitting 40.8% from behind-the-arc. He finished second in the league in free throw percentage behind teammate Klay Thompson, hitting 92.3% from the line.

In addition to Curry, the 2024 USA Men’s National Team features Bam Adebayo (Miami Heat), Devin Booker (Phoenix Suns), Anthony Davis (Los Angeles Lakers), Kevin Durant (Phoenix Suns), Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers), Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers), Jrue Holiday (Boston Celtics), LeBron James (Lakers), Kawhi Leonard (L.A. Clippers) and Jayson Tatum (Celtics).

Curry will be the fifth player to represent the Warriors at the Olympics as a member of Team USA, joining Draymond Green (2016, 2020), Klay Thompson (2016), Harrison Barnes (2016) and Chris Mullin (1992).

The 2024 USA Men’s National Team will be led by Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr, alongside assistant coaches Mark Few (Gonzaga University), Tyronn Lue (Clippers) and Erik Spoelstra (Heat). Last summer, the quartet coached the 2023 USA Basketball Men’s National Team to a fourth-place finish at the 2023 FIBA Men’s World Cup in Manila.

USA Basketball will commence training camp on July 6 in Las Vegas, where United States will host Canada on July 10 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas to open the USA Basketball Showcase. The Americans will embark on an international training window that begins when the USA hosts Australia and Serbia on July 15 and 17, respectively, at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. The USA Basketball Showcase continues at London’s O2 Arena when the USA men take on the national teams of South Sudan on July 20 and Germany on July 22.

As part of Group C, the American men will face Serbia on July 28, South Sudan on July 31 and the winner of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT) in Puerto Rico on Aug. 3 in the first round of the Olympic tournament. The 5-on-5 Olympic basketball group phase will take place in Lille, France, before the tournament moves to Paris for knockout and medal rounds.
