Warriors Can't Stop Streaking Hornets
Playing the second of eight-straight home games, the Warriors suffered a 112-103 loss to the New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday night at Oracle Arena. Turnovers plagued the Warriors all night, as New Orleans scored 30 points off of Golden State’s 21 miscues. Monta Ellis had a game-high 26 points and five assists, Dorell Wright (25) and Stephen Curry (20) each had 20-plus points and David Lee turned in another double-double, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Hornets, who shot 62.2 percent from the field en rout to their 10th-straight win. After a day off on Thursday, the Warriors will resume their eight-game homestand on Friday against the Bobcats in a match-up that will feature Family and Friends and Latino Heritage Night special offers.

FULL GAME PREVIEW

Keith Smart
On playing the West's top teams:
“The NBA takes two things, effort and toughness. If you’ve got effort and you have toughness then you are going to have chance to play against any team in the NBA. If you don’t show any of that against the good teams, they’re going to force their will. And we didn’t force our will early in the game, and that’s what you’ve got. You have to be able to force your will on teams and when you don’t do that against the good teams you’re going to have a quarter where you start the game off very, very flat.”

On not being able to close the gap in the fourth quarter:
“You couldn’t get to there. You couldn’t even get it to be a close game, based on how you started the game. You never had a chance to get yourself in that position. That’s what our group has to understand…you’re playing good basketball, but you have some veterans on other teams that understand that and I think Chris Paul and David West those guys knew that and they put their game at a different level tonight. And I don’t think we matched their intensity to start the game off.”

On the Hornets' recent play:
“They’re playing very well, playing very well. You start with how they perform and how they understand how to try and create their game and their style and try to force things to fall in their favor. But they’re playing well, they’ve beaten some quality basketball teams, not just teams below.500…they’re beating people. They have the toughness that’s necessary to win, and we’ve got to get that. We’ve got to get that toughness, we’ve got to find it and get it somehow.”

Dorell Wright
On tonight's game:
“They came out ready to play and they out worked us in the first quarter. I think they started out 14 of 18 and you are not going to win games when a team is shooting like that. We were careless with the ball and missed some key shots. But, they are a good team and there is a reason they in the midst of 10-game winning streak.”

On whether or not the team played too safe tonight:
“Definitely, it doesn’t matter who we are playing, we need to come out playing hard every night and take care of the ball. We need to be tougher than our opponents, we need to man-up and not look to the refs (when) the other team is being physical. We need to be more aggressive and take it to other teams.”

On falling behind early in the game:
“We did fall behind big early and it is hard to pull yourself out of a hole like that. We need to come out knowing what type of team we are playing and know the type of streak they are in. We need to come out with a sense of urgency and we did not do that tonight.”
