WARRIORS VS. CLIPPERS
Saturday’s matinee will close out the four-game season series between the Warriors and Clippers. The Warriors have won two of the first three matchups and will be looking to sweep their Southern California dates with the Clippers for the first time since the 2002-03 season. The game will mark this season’s final game in Los Angeles for the Warriors, who will look to look to play the role of spoiler against a Clippers team that is battling for playoff position.
Due to consistent groin pain that he has been experiencing for the past several weeks, Warriors forward David Lee underwent an MRI this morning that revealed a strained groin and a stress reaction. Following the MRI, Lee was told by team doctors that he should not play until he is fully healed, or risk causing further substantial injury. Following Thursday’s game versus Dallas, Warriors forward/guard Richard Jefferson experienced swelling in his right knee. Jefferson will remain in the Bay Area to receive treatment and miss tomorrow’s game in Los Angeles against the Clippers. PRESS RELEASE
If recent history is any indicator, look for Dorell Wright to be aggressive against the Clippers. The Los Angeles native has often taken his game to another level when playing in his hometown over his first two seasons with the Warriors. Most recently on March 11, Wright scored 16 of his 20 points in the first period of a road win over the Clippers. Overall, Wright is averaging 14.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in three games in Los Angeles this season (his overall numbers for the year are (9.9, 4.4 and .45).
