LAST TIME OUT
Big nights from Stephen Curry and David Lee paved the way to Wednesday’s 101-93 home win over the Trail Blazers. Curry connected on four of his six 3-pointers during a third-quarter surge that saw him score 16 of his season-high 32 points. David Lee added 26 points and Brandon Rush provided a spark off the bench with 14 points. The Warriors shot 55 percent on 3-pointers and out-scored Portland 53-40 in the second half. FULL GAME RECAP
WARRIORS VS. THUNDER
In the confines of Oracle Arena, Golden State has posted a 12-3 record over the past 15 contests with Oklahoma City, including wins in their previous two meetings in Oakland. Stephen Curry has played some of his best basketball against the Thunder, averaging 25.9 points in seven matchups against them with two 35-plus games last year. Look for Nate Robinson to spark the Warriors’ bench against his former team, who waived him in December after not giving him much of a chance to succeed. Anchored by the NBA’s two-time defending scoring champion, Kevin Durant, and an All-Star supporting cast, the Thunder will visit Oracle Arena with the league’s best record (15-3) in tow. The Warriors, however, have already taken down some of the NBA’s elite teams and they’ll need another strong performance to repeat that feat on Friday.
MONTA THE PLAYMAKER
Monta Ellis is so much more than a pure scorer and he proved as much on Wednesday. Ellis put his playmaking ability on display against Portland, handing out a season-high 12 assists, just one shy of his career-high. After leading all NBA shooting guards in assists last season, Ellis is again leading that category this season (7.2 apg) while also leading the team in scoring (21.2 ppg).
