Splash Brothers Lead Warriors Past Raptors

Established 1946 | 7-time NBA Champions

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson combined for 64 points as the Warriors used a 31-23 fourth quarter to pull away from the Raptors in a 129-117 victory on Friday night at Chase Center.

A four-point game midway through the fourth quarter, the game was tight throughout. In fact, neither team led by more than eight points until Thompson knocked down a corner 3-pointer with two minutes left in the game. That shot gave the Dubs a 10-point advantage, and the Raptors would not cut their deficit down below eight points the rest of the way.

With the win, the Warriors closed out a regular season sweep of Toronto and moved to 25-24 on the season going into a three-game road trip that opens on Monday in Oklahoma City.

PUTTING ON AN OFFENSIVE DISPLAY
The Warriors shot 55.6 percent from the floor, connected on 18 3-pointers and had 40 assists on 50 made baskets. Curry and DiVincenzo each had 11 assists, and three reserves had double-digit scoring efforts to help give the Warriors a 39-25 bench scoring advantage. Going up against the team that forces the most turnovers in the NBA, the Warriors, who are second worst in turning it over this season, protected the ball for the most part, resulting in open looks throughout the evening. The Warriors took advantage of those looks and had 62 points in the paint, with many of those coming early, and the Dubs finished off Toronto with some strong 3-point shooting late.

KUMINGA CHANGES THE GAME
Going into Friday’s game, Jonathan Kuminga had made 19 3-pointers all season. But in the final three minutes of the fourth quarter, he made four. The 3-point barrage began with a game-tying 3-pointer with 2:49 left in the third period, and he put the Dubs ahead on the next possession with another triple. Curry briefly interrupted Kuminga’s 3-point display with a shot that put the Dubs up for good, but the second-year forward from the Congo added another three to send the Warriors into the fourth quarter up by four.

Kuminga Splash Party

SPLASH BROTHERS CLOSE IT OUT
Kuminga’s hot shooting initiated a sequence of six consecutive made 3-point attempts for the Dubs, the last by Klay Thompson.  Thompson concluded that stretch early in the fourth period, and he’d make two more 3-pointers in the fourth quarter. Curry matched Thompson’s nine fourth quarter points, and the two combined for 15 of the team’s final 24 points.

Stephen Curry with one of the day's best plays!
