Paschall Celebrates Birthday by Leading Dubs to First Win at Chase Center

Dubs celebrate first win at Chase Center as Eric Paschall celebrates 23rd brithday with first career double-double.

Happy Birthday Eric Paschall! The 41st overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft turned 23 on Monday, and all he did to celebrate was post 34 points and 13 rebounds while leading the Dubs to their first-ever regular season victory at Chase Center, a 127-118 triumph over the Trail Blazers in what, on paper, was a rematch of the 2019 Western Conference Finals.

No Warriors player who participated in that four-game Warriors sweep of Portland last May played in Monday’s victory. Instead, the Dubs had just nine active players, including three rookie starters, for the second consecutive game.

And for the second-straight game, Paschall came through with his best NBA performance of his young pro career. It all began with a hot start in the first quarter when Paschall put in 17 points, including making his first two career three-pointers back-to-back.

Paschall is the first Warriors rookie to score 25+ in consecutive games since Stephen Curry, who did so in five straight games from April 4 to April 11, 2010. He also set the NBA season-high for points by a rookie, surpassing Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies who posted 30 on October 27 against Brooklyn.

The squad worked their way into the only double-digit lead for either team with just under five minutes left, which stemmed from a two and a half minute span in which the Dubs went on a 12-0 run. The Trail Blazers worked their way to within six points with 1:05 left, but the Dubs prevented Portland from getting any closer and held the lead for the remainder of the game.

It was a team effort from the squad as six of the nine Warriors reached double-digits in scoring to overcome the 39-point effort from the Trail Blazers’ four-time All-Star Damian Lillard.

Besides Paschall, fellow rookies Ky Bowman and Jordan Poole also added a cumulative 35 points; Bowman had 19 point with four rebounds and eight assists, and Poole posted 16 points with two treys along with five assists.

Damion Lee led the Dubs’ bench in scoring with 16 points, and Alec Burks scored 13 on the the night.

After celebrating the team’s first ever win at Chase Center, the team now heads out for three games on the road starting with a Western Conference matchup against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.
