Marquese Chriss Posts Double-Double in Dubs’ Preseason Defeat

Late Warriors Comeback Falls Short in Los Angeles

The Dubs dropped the first of their three consecutive games against the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday night, falling 104-98 in Los Angeles. Despite the loss, several Dubs added to their case to make the regular season roster.

Training camp invite Marquese Chriss continued his strong preseason effort with a 14-point, 11-rebound double-double in which he also added four assists and three blocks while shooting 6-for-6 on free throws. Also responding to the call was Damion Lee who fell just short of a double-double of his own: 18 points, nine rebounds, and three steals.

Without the presence of D’Angeo Russell and Draymond Green, both of whom sat-out to rest, the Dubs struggled at the start. By the end of the first half, the team was a cumulative 16-for-54 (29.6%) on field goals. However, it was clear the squad was not going down without a fight as the Dubs managed to end the second quarter on a 14-6 run.

As the game progressed, they continued to chip-away at the Lakers’ lead, working their way from 19 points down midway through the third quarter to a three-point deficit with three minutes left in the game. But back-to-back buckets by the Lakers would ultimately keep the Dubs at a distance and seal their fate.

Preseason action for both clubs continues as the Dubs play their third of four preseason games against the Lakers on Wednesday night.
