Warriors Forward David Lee Donates $75,000 to St. Jude's and Hosts Patient From St. Jude's at Tonight's Game as Part of NBA’S Hoops for St. Jude Week™

Established 1946 | 7-time NBA Champions

As part of the NBA’s Hoops for St. Jude Week™, Golden State Warriors forward and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® ambassador David Lee will host a pregame meet and greet with six-year old cancer survivor Kapri Geernaert at 6:15 p.m. tonight at Oracle Arena and host Kapri and her family for the Warriors game tonight against the Portland Trail Blazers, the team announced today. Lee visited St. Jude’s last month and donated $75,000 to help support the life-saving work of St. Jude. Last month’s visit and donation was one of many for Lee throughout this career.

A Bay Area native, Kapri was diagnosed with a brain tumor at age five in June of 2014 and arrived at St. Jude three weeks later. After many months of treatment, Kapri finally returned home to San Francisco at the end of March. During tonight’s game, Kapri and her family (mother Becky, father Shawn, nine-year-old sister Kailey and 11-year-old sister Kenadie) will meet Lee pregame, sit courtside during pregame shootaround and cheer on the Warriors as they take on the Trail Blazers tonight. The support of dedicated ambassadors like Lee and campaigns like Hoops for St. Jude Week helps ensure that families like Kapri’s never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
