Timberwolves & Lynx to Host Memorial Blood Centers Drive at Mayo Clinic Square

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx announced the organization will host a blood drive on Tuesday, Aug. 2 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Mayo Clinic Square on the ground floor. In partnership with Memorial Blood Centers (MBC), this drive comes at the beginning of another urgent need to replenish the local blood supply.

While the need for blood donors remains at an all-time high across the country, Minnesota continues to balance the historically difficult summer season for blood collection and pandemic-related staffing challenges.

“We are so grateful for our partnership with the Timberwolves and Lynx and the upcoming blood drive at Mayo Clinic Square,” said Wendy Capetz, Director of Marketing and Development, Memorial Blood Centers. "Our appointment schedules might be tight, but the need for blood donation doesn't take a vacation. We hope folks will donate at our donor centers to help us replenish supplies for patients in need.”

The MBC Blood Drive will be held on the ground level at Mayo Clinic Square (600 Hennepin Ave.). Donors will receive an MBC t-shirt, Wolves and Lynx items, and a voucher for two Timberwolves tickets for the 2022-23 preseason home opener vs. the Brooklyn Nets on Friday, Oct. 14 with tipoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT.

Interested donors can find out if they’re eligible (see donor eligibility guidelines) or schedule an appointment for the Aug. 2 blood drive.
