Timberwolves Acquire Draft Rights to Forward Josh Minott and a 2023 Second Round Pick from the Charlotte Hornets

Minneapolis/St. Paul – The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the team has acquired the draft rights to the 45th pick forward Josh Minott and a 2023 second round pick from the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for the 40th selection guard Bryce McGowens.

Minott, 6-8, averaged 6.6 points on 52.2% shooting, 3.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. As a freshman, Minott appeared in all 33 games (five starts) for the University of Memphis.

The 20-year-old recorded two double-doubles, with his first one coming off 14 points and 10 rebounds on Jan. 9, 2022 against Cincinnati. His second double-double came on Jan. 27, 2022 when he registered 13 points and a career-high 12 rebounds against East Carolina.

The Boca Raton, Fla. native earned a 2021-22 AAC All-Freshman Team nod and was named AAC Freshman of the Week twice throughout the season.

Minott help lead his high school, St. Andrews, to its first state basketball championship as a junior in 2019-2020. He was named the Palm Beach 5A-1A Player of the Year by the South Florida Sun Sentinel after his senior season.
