The Fastbreak Foundation Announces 2023-24 Starting Five Grant Recipients

Charitable arm of Timberwolves & Lynx continues to invest in Twin Cities Community

Minneapolis/St. Paul – The Minnesota Timberwolves & Lynx today announced the 2023-24 season Starting Five grant recipients from the Fastbreak Foundation. This marks the second round of Starting Five grant recipients.  

The Fastbreak Foundation’s Starting Five program consists of a $100K commitment to each recipient over the four-year grant term. Each organization will also receive additional support and resources from the Timberwolves & Lynx including Pack Gives Back tickets to select games, player engagement opportunities and community impact programming. 

“We are honored and excited to announce our Starting Five partners for the 2023-24 Timberwolves season,” said Timberwolves & Lynx Executive Director of The Fastbreak Foundation, Jennifer Ridgeway. “These non-profit organizations play an integral role in the Twin Cities community by helping to promote and provide resources in education, wellness, and inclusion.  

This year’s grant recipients include A Mothers Love Initiative, Playworks MN, Special Olympics Minnesota, Twin Cities Pride and YouthLink.

A Mother’s Love Initiative’s (AMLI) vision is to strengthen families by giving them a “village” for moral support. We recognize that “family” comprises of a multitude of different family types. We respect all family dynamics and work to meet families where they are in their life cycles. AMLI’s mentorship program works to strengthen families academically, socially, emotionally and financially. Our vision builds strong foundations now and for generations to come.  

A Mother’s Love Initiative believes all children are born with a clean slate. It is the responsibility of everyone in each child’s life to create a pathway that will lead to physical, social, intellectual and emotional growth. It is our goal to empower children and families, to ensure both academic and social success. 

All kids deserve the social, emotional, and physical benefits of play. We help schools and youth programs create healthy play environments where every child can join in. Playworks Minnesota serves schools across Minnesota through our year-round, on-site support services. We’re also reaching thousands of more students across Minnesota through professional development workshops for schools and youth organizations.

Special Olympics Minnesota’s mission is to create a new world of inclusion and acceptance for people with intellectual disabilities. We do this by providing year-round sports training and athletic competitions, inclusive healthcare programs, leadership and advocacy training, and inclusive school programs.
