Preseason Scouting Report | Wolves at Warriors

The Game

The Wolves play their second preseason game of the 2019-20 season on Thursday against the Warriors at the new Chase Center.

Both of these teams are extremely different from the season prior.

For the Wolves, this is a team that is looking to play faster and take more-efficient shots. In their first game against the Suns on Tuesday, we saw that.

In preseason, you never really know what the rotations will look like. On Tuesday, we saw the Timberwolves start Jeff Teague, Andrew Wiggins, Jake Layman, Robert Covington and Karl-Anthony Towns – probably a bit of a hint of what Ryan Saunders is thinking to start the season. But the bench is a very talented unit, led by Josh Okogie, Jarrett Culver, Shabazz Napier and Noah Vonleh.

We’ll see if Saunders switches up his rotation at all, testing different lineups together.

As for the Warriors, they are testing life without Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson, and trying to see how D’Angelo Russell fits in. This isn’t the Warrior team we’ve seen in the past. There are a lot of players the Warriors took risks on this offseason, hoping they can keep Golden State near the top of the Western Conference. We’ll see if those moves pay off.
