March Memories | Dieng Helps Louisville To Championship Over Burke's Wolverines

Well, technically this game wasn’t played in March. It was played on April 8, 2013. But when you’re playing in early April, that’s a pretty good sign for your team.

It was the battle of Gorgui Dieng and the Louisville Cardinals against Trey Burke and the Michigan Wolverines in the NCAA National Championship.

Dieng had a great all-around game, finishing with eight points, eight rebounds, six assists, three blocks and a steal to help the Cardinals to an 82-76 win, capping off a 35-5 season. The future first-round pick shot an efficient 4-for-6 from the field.

Burke was the leader for Michigan, but it wasn’t enough.

He finished with 24 points, four rebounds and three assists while shooting 7-for-11 from the field and 3-for-5 from the 3-point line.

Why are we highlighting the game on March 13, 2017, you ask?

Because tonight, Dieng’s Wolves face off against Burke’s Wizards at the Target Center.

A few fun facts about this matchup:
