With a positive attitude, a warm smile and booming voice, Thabeet has stepped right into the backup center role and played it with aggression and toughness. This season Thabeet has been called upon to defend with energy and physicality while using his large frame to both contest and block shots in the paint. By keeping correct defensive positioning, guarding the pick-and-roll with the right coverage and playing solid interior defense, Thabeet’s impact on the defensive end can have a major impact on the game. On the offensive end, Thabeet has already registered his first career double-double and continues to be a threat from the dunker spot just outside of the lane, where he can catch and make an easy finish. In addition Thabeet has shown a knack for fighting for offensive rebounds and kicking them out to waiting teammates or finishing the play with a put-back.
