Thunder and Chesapeake Energy Arena to Reduce Seating Capacity and Institute Numerous Health and Safety Measures for 2020-21 Season

The NBA has announced that the 2020-21 season will begin on Dec. 22 with a total of 72 regular-season games. The exact game schedule is being developed by the NBA and will be released at a later date.

The Thunder, along with Chesapeake Energy Arena's management company ASM Global, has announced that there are plans to allow a limited number of fans to attend home games with reduced seating capacity to permit appropriate and safe physical distancing.

A task force comprised of representatives from the Thunder and arena management has worked closely with the City of Oklahoma City, local health officials, and the NBA for several months to develop a substantive list of practices, protocols and technologies designed to keep fans safe and healthy at the games, while still being able to enjoy the entertainment experience.

Those measures include six-foot seating distance between groups of guests, requiring face masks, establishing contactless, self-service ticket scanning and concession purchasing, and mandating strict hygiene and disinfecting procedures throughout the building.

The Thunder will update this site as necessary to provide the very latest information as it becomes available.
