Thunder's 2013-14 Regular Season Schedule Announced
OKLAHOMA CITY, August 6, 2013 – The Oklahoma City Thunder announced its 2013-14 regular season schedule today, including the club’s home opener on Sunday, Nov. 3, against the Phoenix Suns. The Thunder kicks-off the upcoming season on the road, visiting the Utah Jazz on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
Regionally, 71 of the Thunder's 82 games will be broadcast on FOX Sports Oklahoma, which reaches viewers in Oklahoma and parts of Kansas and Arkansas. All games can be heard via the Thunder Radio Network, led by flagship station WWLS-FM (98.1) The Sports Animal in Oklahoma City.
Oklahoma City is slated to appear on national television 30 times during the 2013-14 season. ABC will feature the Thunder on four occasions, including a Christmas matinee against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Additionally, Oklahoma City is set to make 10 TNT and 10 ESPN appearances during the course of the 2013-14 season. NBA TV will also feature the Thunder on six occasions.
The Thunder will once again continue its tradition of family-friendly scheduling this season with 22 home games set to be played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All 15 of the team’s Sunday home contests will be played in an afternoon or a 6 p.m. early evening format.
As has been the case in each of the previous five seasons, the Thunder will once again play at home on New Year’s Eve. On the last day of 2013, the Thunder will host the Portland Trail Blazers as a part of Oklahoma City’s Opening Night celebration.
During the 2013-14 season, the Thunder will compete in a pair of six-game home stands. The first six-game stretch will begin with a Nov. 18 meeting versus the Denver Nuggets and conclude with a Dec. 1 contest against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The club’s second extended home stretch will start with a Feb. 20 outing against the Miami Heat and end with a March 4 affair versus the Philadelphia 76ers. Oklahoma City’s longest road trip of the year is a four-game stretch during the final month of the season (April 4 at Houston – April 9 at L.A. Clippers).
The Thunder will compete in 15 sets of back-to-backs during the 2013-14 season, beginning with consecutive road outings on Nov. 13 at the L.A. Clippers followed by a game the next evening on Nov. 14 at Golden State.
Single-game tickets for the entire regular season will go on sale at a later date, closer to the start of the season.
